Chef Jason Avelson, CEC, CCE, CCA, serves as the Manager of Culinary Schools for ZWILLING J.A. Henckels. Since beginning his culinary career in 1998, Chef Avelson has held numerous leadership positions across the foodservice industry, including serving as Director at an ACFEF-accredited culinary school.
A recognized leader and advocate for culinary education, Chef Avelson is a national consultant and floor judge for FCCLA, SkillsUSA, ProStart, and NHSBBQ. He also contributes to similar initiatives across Texas, bringing his experience as an ACF gold medalist competitor to his judging and mentoring roles. He is widely regarded as a subject matter expert in the areas of certification, accreditation, apprenticeship programs, and high school culinary competitions, serving on various commissions and boards nationwide.
A disabled combat veteran, Chef Avelson remains actively involved in his community. He volunteers regularly through his church, local food banks, and nonprofit organizations dedicated to the fight to end hunger. He holds a degree from Tarleton State University and lives with his family in Aledo, Texas
